A Harmonious Acoustic Experience at Restaurant Oxenstiernan: An Interview with Sebastian Schildt

Restaurant Oxenstiernan is a genuine restaurant in Stockholm, a meeting place for all senses where art, craft and food come together in an inspiring environment.

The restaurant's design is carefully thought out and is based on function, appearance, sustainability and innovation, every detail is meticulously chosen to create a unique and memorable dining experience. A crucial part of this is the acoustics, which play a vital role in both the guests' comfort and the staff's work environment. We had the opportunity to ask Sebastian Schildt, founder and initiator, about the decision to choose Okko Designs' acoustic solutions. Here, he shares his thoughts and experiences.

Why did you choose Okko Designs' acoustic solutions for Restaurant Oxenstiernan, and what specific needs did you hope Okko would fulfill?

"Since I personally believe that acoustics are a major issue in many restaurant environments, it was a priority for me in the planning of the restaurant. With Restaurant Oxenstiernan's strong focus on design and sustainability, it was quite easy to choose Okko, who excellently combines these two areas. Our need was to find visually elegant solutions in sustainable materials that also provided maximum acoustic effect."

Improved Sound Quality and Atmosphere

How have Okko Designs' acoustic panels affected the sound quality and overall ambiance in the restaurant?

"The acoustic panels work excellently and create a pleasant calm in the dining room. The guests have praised the restaurant, appreciating that they can have conversations during meals without any problems. This also contributes to a good working environment for the staff, who can better take care of the guests and not get as tired.”

What did you think of the installation process and working with us throughout the project?

"The collaboration with Okko worked perfectly from the presentation of solutions to the installation of the final product."

Sebastian Schildt also emphasizes how smooth the entire process was, from the initial presentation of the acoustic solutions to the final installation. Good cooperation and a hassle-free installation process were crucial for the successful outcome.

With the help of Okko Designs' acoustic panels, Restaurant Oxenstiernan has created an environment where design, sustainability, and functionality come together in the best possible way. By focusing on acoustics, they have not only improved the dining experience for guests but also contributed to a better working environment for the staff. This collaboration is an excellent example of how well-thought-out acoustic solutions can elevate a restaurant environment to new heights. We are proud and delighted to have been able to contribute to this unique restaurant in Stockholm.

Since the ceilings were occupied by designed lighting fixtures, we used the walls where acoustic hemp panels were mounted and painted in the same color as the rest of the carpentry. Artwork by Stina Wirsén was also printed on framed hemp panels and mounted strategically in the room. The result is a very discreet but very effective solution, where the good acoustics become an important contribution to the atmosphere.

Also the beautiful acoustic pendant Shell, designed by Monica Förster is installed in the ceiling of Oxenstiernan.
