Sound of Silence designed by Ingegerd Råman.

The new sound absorber "Sound Of Silence" from Okko Design is designed by Ingegerd Råman, an acoustic wall panel with its own artistic expression. The material is peat fiber obtained and harvested directly from nature with extremely good sound-absorbing properties.

Silence must be preserved
— Ingegerd Råman

Ingegerd Råman has always been interested in the acoustics of public spaces, where she thinks that the sound environment is often overlooked. “Silence must be preserved.” Råman says.

The name Sound Of Silence comes from the knowledge that cavities swallow sound. The peat fiber has a strong expression in itself which inspired Ingegerd’s curiosity and interest. The encounter with the material and its properties has been expressed by Ingegerd in a personal way in her design.

Two peat fiber sound absorbers have been joined where Ingegerd has created cavities in two layers. The repetitive pattern is varied through two different sizes of the holes, the smaller hole strictly schematically repeated and the larger ones completely drawn by hand, it gives Sound Of Silence the best possible sound absorbing effect and a soft and lively surface.

The panels are made as modules in the format 1 x 1,09 m and are available in all NCS colors. They suit perfectly well as an individual panel or as assembled in a composition in any size on both walls and in ceilings
